Get Out the Door!

Whenever I ask the children to get out the door for school, time stops moving and we enter a black hole–

that no one else in the entire world is part of except them. And their shoes.

  1. This reminds me of a fantasy I had when I was a kid getting ready for school. We had an analog clock hanging in the family room and I would stare at it, imagining a vortex opened up in it and sucked me in to a place where weird clocks circled around me.

I’m fortunate that we keep all of our shoes at the front door so nobody loses them and that my kids are really good about getting out the door. I dread the day they start to fight me.
