Today on Surviving on Little Income Because All the Kids Need Dental Work Except One and the Water Heater Went Out and We Had to Replace It…
My super thrifty food tip involving concentrated orange juice.
Water juice down a bit.
When we’re living the high life right after tax returns; I purchase all natural, fresh-squeezed orange juice like a millionaire. At other times, concentrated juice or even Kool-Aid are our go-to.
You can stretch your buck juuuuuust a bit further if you add a bit more water than it says to. How much so depends on your ability to withstand what you mix.
Of course, you can always go cheaper and add food coloring to water. I’m sure they’ll never know the difference.
I have to do this without the little guy watching. He hates the idea of me watering down his drinks (although I don’t think he can tell). It’s a great tip though!

I kind of want someone else to do it when I’M not watching. 🙂

My mom would make 1/2 1/2 milk. Half whole milk, half powdered milk. When cold, it was “almost” good. Just fine on cereal.

Went to the really cheap supermarket the other week and bought some orange juice, it was the other way round – felt like I should add orange to the water. But going to try that with some proper apple juice.

I went to McDonald’s during a really bad pregnancy day and splurged on the OJ. They had watered it down!!! If I’m getting more water than orange, I’m buying my own for far cheaper!

It’s hard to find OJ which hasn’t been watered down these days. If I wanted that I would have asked for Orange Cordial. But they still charge you as if it’s 100%.
